GWA has done some foundational fish passage assessments and restoration prioritization work. Though there have been some restoration success stories, the many outstanding issues need to be highlighted and addressed. We also continue to look for ways to fill gaps in these assessments.

Some of the internal references of this work and supporting documents are listed below.

Outstanding fish passage barriers that were reassessed in 2015-2016 by Gitksan Watershed Authorities to report high priorities include seven priority sites that are very expensive and nine that are relatively lower cost due to shallow fill overtopping the culverts.

We hope to help bring to light recommendations for remedial planning and ground work and where more of this work is needed including long term legacy impacts such as the abandoned Upper Skeena BC Rail grade.
